Earl Grey - Sweet Pea Plant Starts (4-Pack, Pre-Order)
A head start on a truly distinctive sweet pea.
This listing is for a pre-order of four strong young ‘Earl Grey’ sweet pea plants (Lathyrus odoratus), grown in deep Rootrainers, similar to the ones we use here on the farm. These cells encourage excellent root development, resulting in plants that transplant cleanly and establish quickly in cool spring soil.
Each start is carefully grown and selected for vigor and early growth, then shipped at the ideal stage for planting into beds, borders, or containers as soon as the ground can be worked. With proper support and cool-season conditions, you can expect a steady and rewarding display of uniquely colored blooms by late spring.

About ‘Earl Grey’
‘Earl Grey’ is an attractively distinctive sweet pea, prized for its unusual, flaked coloration in moody tones of maroon, purple, and mauve. The flowers have a softly antiqued look that sets them apart from traditional sweet pea palettes, making this variety especially useful in refined and contemporary floral arrangements.
Bred by Dr. Keith Hammett, ‘Earl Grey’ offers a unique blend of depth and subtlety, pairing beautifully with neutrals, pastels, and other richly colored blooms. It is a standout choice for gardeners and floral designers seeking something unexpected and elegant.
This variety is also known as ‘Earl Gray’ sweet pea, and both names refer to the same cultivar.
Why Choose Plant Starts?
Skip the most time-sensitive stage of growing sweet peas. Whether you’re growing a rare colorway, designing with flowers, or simply want guaranteed success, these ready-to-grow starts make it easy to enjoy strong, healthy plants without the uncertainty of seed starting.
