About Sweet Pea Gardens: Your Source for Premium Sweet Pea Seeds

🌿 Our Story

Sweet Pea Gardens began in 2018, but our love for sweet peas started long before that.
Growing up in England, where sweet peas have been beloved for generations, we fell in love with their fragrance, delicacy, and the way they fill a garden with color. When we later settled in southwest Washington State, that passion found new soil to grow in — quite literally. What began as a few rows of flowers has grown into a small, dedicated seed farm devoted entirely to Lathyrus odoratus, the sweet pea.

🌱 From Seed to Bloom

Now in our eighth growing season, we continue to focus on growing, selecting, and saving seed from varieties that perform beautifully for both flower farmers and home gardeners. Each season, we trial new types for fragrance, color, and stem length, keeping only those that meet the standards we’d want in our own garden.

Our growing season begins in late winter, when we sow sweet pea seeds under cover in Rootrainers. By late winter or early spring, young plants are moved into the field, where they climb their trellises in the cool air of early spring. By early summer, the fields are alive with color and scent. Once flowering finishes, pods mature and dry naturally before being hand-harvested, shelled, cleaned, and packed right here on the farm.

🌾 Grown with Care

All our sweet peas are grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, using sustainable field methods and hand selection for seed quality. Each packet of seed represents months of careful tending — from the first sowing under cover to the final handfuls of seed poured into paper packets. It’s slow, deliberate work, but it’s also deeply satisfying.

💛 Our Values

We’re a small, family-run farm with a deep appreciation for the rhythm of the seasons and the community of growers who share our love of flowers. Whether you’re a flower farmer planting hundreds of vines or a gardener sowing a tray on a windowsill, we’re honored to be part of your growing year — helping you bring beauty, fragrance, and joy from seed to bloom.
